Biographical Sketch

Jan Deckers is a Health Care Ethicist in the Institute of Health and Society at Newcastle University, UK. He took up his current post in 2001. He had spent his undergraduate years studying philosophy, religious studies, and theology at the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium. He obtained a PhD Degree from St. Andrews, Scotland in 2001 with a dissertation on Environmental Ethics. Mr. Deckers’ research interests include animal ethics, reproductive ethics, and public health ethics. Much of his current work focuses on the moral issues associated with the consumption of farmed animal products.
